Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan recently anointed the newly-gilded cross with holy muron atop the dome of St. Vartan Cathedral. The cross has become increasingly visible from street level as scaffolding is gradually withdrawn. (Click on each photo to view an enlarged, detailed view)

The new cross was blessed by Bishop Mesrop and touched by the faithful at a special ceremony on June 30th. It was then raised to its rightful place atop the gilded dome of St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral, shining as a beacon to the faithful and representing our unwavering Armenian Christian faith on the Manhattan skyline.

We are well into the First Phase of repairs to the exterior damage and deterioration inflicted upon St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral’s limestone facade and roof from more than 50 years of weathering by the elements.
